
Christina Ballard
Christina followed a life-long dream and relocated to Oregon in 2022. As an advocate for civil rights, mental health, transportation equity, and workers’ rights, she has volunteered with organizations providing services and advocacy for equity in the mental health, LGBTQIA+, and disability communities. She has presented to law enforcement, human services workers, and high school groups about ending the stigma of mental illness and other biases. She is an Assistant Professor of Communication Studies at Umpqua Community College. Christina graduated from the State University of New York Brockport with a Master’s Degree in Communication Studies in 2001 and completed Cornell’s Diversity & Inclusion Certificate in 2021.

She is excited to join the Board of Directors at UVRC and is dedicated to serving the LGBTQIA+ community in Douglas County. She lives with her two cats Dora and Daisy and is 100% a Gen Exer, her favorite movie is indeed, The Breakfast Club.
