Press Release: UVRC Response to Unauthorized LGBTQIA2S+ Report

Dear Allies & Community Friends,

Umpqua Valley Rainbow Collective recently became aware of an unauthorized report that was released last night regarding the LGBTQIA2S+ Douglas County Needs Assessment. We want to let you know this is an unauthorized report and we did not have a contract with this volunteer to perform this work. The volunteer was provided the data by the previous board of directors and the volunteer’s access to the data has since been revoked.

We are working with UHA using Equi institute for the official report to be released in early 2024. This unauthorized report potentially contains inaccuracies and has not been reviewed or approved by us. Additionally, the report presents with bias that is potentially damaging to the LGBTQIA2S+ community in Douglas County. UVRC is also concerned with confidentiality due to the sensitive nature of the data.

We recommended that you do not use the data presented in the report. Instances of this report, if received, should not be shared for the reasons provided above.

Thank you for your patience as we continue to work with our partners through the assessment. We will update you when we have an accurate and unbiased report.

If you have further questions, please contact: info@umpquavalleyrainbowcollective.org

Sincerely,

Umpqua Valley Rainbow Collective Board of Directors
